East China's Jiangsu Province saw 9.8 percent year-on-year growth of foreign trade with countries along the
Belt and Road in the first five months of 2019, hitting 412.48 billion yuan (about 59.75 billion US dollars).
It accounted for 24.3 percent of the province's total in the past five months, which stood at 1.69 trillion yuan, according to Nanjing Customs.
From January to May, the province's import and export volumes with Vietnam, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia grew 23.4 percent, 39.9 percent and 15.4 percent, respectively.
The export of mechanical and electrical products reached 694.6 billion yuan, accounting for 66.2 percent of the province's total, up 4.6 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, the private enterprises in the province saw their foreign trade rise by 8 percent year on year to 508.17 billion yuan, making up 30 percent of the province's total.
