China's top legislature on Wednesday announced the launch of an enforcement inspection on the Higher Education Law.
The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress will send inspection teams to four provincial-level regions between June and August. Legislative bodies in ten provincial-level regions are also asked to run parallel inspections.
An inspection report will be made and is expected to be reviewed at the top legislature's bi-monthly session in October.
The Higher Education Law was promulgated in 1998 and revised in 2015. School management, talent nurturing, the building of teaching staff, exam and enrollment reforms, among others, are the focus for the inspection.
