A tourism and cultural exhibition on the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region kicked off in Malta on Wednesday under the theme Beautiful China, Splendid Guangxi.
The event features photos, singing and dancing performances, authentic ethnic minority handicrafts and models of vehicles manufactured in Guangxi.
The exhibition aims to promote the cultural and tourism resources of Guangxi through art performances with ethnic characteristics, exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage and pictures of culture and tourism, according to Li Bin, vice chairman of the government of the Guangxi, at the opening ceremony.
Guangxi will also hold a series of cultural activities in Malta throughout the year, he added.
Arts Council Malta Chairman Albert Marshell said the event "seeks to strengthen people-to-people bonds, induce more Maltese to visit China for cultural, recreational, educational or eco-motivated tourism, as well as offer an incentive for lucrative win-win professional and commercial developments."
Chinese Ambassador to Malta Jiang Jiang said: "I look forward to seeing closer exchanges and cooperation between Malta and Guangxi, which constitutes an important part of our
Belt and Road cooperation and common development."
