"Spirited Away," the 2001 Japanese animated film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, continued to top the Chinese mainland box office Monday, China Movie Data Information Network said Tuesday.
The Oscar-winning film grossed over 26.83 million yuan (about 3.91 million U.S. dollars), accounting for 41.6 percent of the daily total.
It was followed by "Toy Story 4," the fourth installation of Pixar and Disney's long-running "Toy Story" series, which raked in about 9.88 million yuan on its fourth day at the box office.
"Men in Black: International" ranked third with a daily box office of 5.64 million yuan.
"Spirited Away" earned a total box office of 220 million yuan since its June 21 debut on the Chinese mainland.
