A Chinese painting from artist Fu Yiyao featuring scenes of Japanese festivals has been listed as a cultural work to promote the country's upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games, according to the painter, daughter of China's painting maestro Fu Baoshi, at the Fusion Art Center on Saturday.
A new exhibition featuring her works about Japanese festivals such as the Sacred Pillars Festival, Bon Dance and Awa Odori Dance will be held in Tokyo from August 8 to 17. Her 14-meter-long painting depicting the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival will also be on display.
Fu has been working to promote Chinese ink paintings worldwide even while creating Japanese festival-themed works.
"The techniques of Chinese ink painting play a fundamental role in my paintings," the artist said.
"To portray so many people at the festival, Chinese wisdom leads the whole process."
