Over 10 cartoon or anime singers from China and Japan performed as holographs before an audience of 10,000 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai on Friday.
The characters are also known as Vsingers and a highlight of the concert was the Chinese virtual singer "Luo Tianyi" and the Japanese character known as "Hatsune Miku," singing a duet of the song "B With U" and the viral song "One More Please" which were released on the Chinese video sharing platform Bilibili.
Hatsune was created in 2007 and appears as a teenage girl. Luo was first published in 2012. Both are often seen wearing short skirts, thigh-high boots and long pony tails. Their songs are accompanied by electronic music and their voice comes from a speech synthesizing software.
Like any music concert, audience members dance and wave at the virtual performer who are often displayed in a form much larger than a human.
