A gunman was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon after killing four people and injuring two others, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
"We can confirm Gerry Dean Zaragoza, the suspect believed to be connected to four homicides in the San Fernando Valley, has been taken into custody," the LAPD tweeted about 3 p.m. local time (0700 GMT), two hours after the 26-year-old man shot on a bus platform in Van Nuys, a suburban city 30 km west of downtown Los Angeles.
The LAPD arrested him on Thursday afternoon. Zaragoza armed himself with a 9-mm hi-point semi-auto gun in the shooting spree.
Canoga Park, North Hollywood and Van Nuys are all neighborhoods in the San Fernando Valley. Van Nuys is the most populous one in the area.
