After everyone had left the dinner table, a man in Central China stuck a chopstick up his nose to scratch an itch and he could have gotten away with his gross manners except his next move almost killed him. 

As he was getting up with the chopstick still in his nose, he somehow lost his balance and fell face first jamming the chopstick through his nasal cavity, according to a video posted by the Pear Video. 

"We heard him screaming after dinner and saw the chopstick stuck up his nose," one of the man's relatives said.

Doctors at a hospital in Changsha, Hunan Province on Friday found that most of the 20-centimeter-long chopstick was inside the man's skull.

A doctor, surnamed Wang, said the man required emergency surgery as any sudden movement could kill him.

Surgeons were able to remove the chopstick but the man had to be treated in the intensive care unit.

"That's so scary. Every time I pick up chopsticks, I'll think of the story," a netizen wrote on Sina Weibo but didn't mention if she uses a chopstick to scratch an itch in her nose.
