An exhibition of sculptures by Xu Hongfei, a national first-class artist in the Chinese mainland, kicked off at the Fine Art Asia fair in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Tuesday.

As the dean of the Guangzhou Sculpture Academy in South China's Guangdong Province, Xu developed a style of his own with his "chubby women" series of sculptures. His artworks are famous for his bold and exaggerated style.

The "chubby women" series is on display at Fine Art Asia, one of Asia's leading international fine art fairs. The humorous and varied appearances of the sculptures allow viewers to see the artistic charm of Xu's works and the beauty of human beings. For example, the bronze sculpture Galerie Ora-Ora means "from one era to another" or "eternity," reflecting the fair's belief that high quality art survives through generations, according to Fine Art Asia's official website.

Fine Art Asia is the only fair in Asia to showcase art and antiques from both Asia and the West. It hosts leading Hong Kong and international galleries, and in 2018 the fair attracted 25,000 visitors from around the world.
