Karen Mok, a renowned pop star from Hong Kong, was awarded a Guinness World record for a solo concert at the highest altitude, which was held at a sports center in Lhasa, Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region at an altitude of exactly 3,648.308 meters on Saturday.
Mok showed no signs of fatigue after the two-hour concert, according to a report in the Red Star News based in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Before the show ended, an official Guinness certifier took to the stage and announced that the performance had set a new world record for a concert at the highest altitude.
The certifier said other than altitude the record had to meet two other criteria: There had to be at least 10,000 tickets sold and the concert had to last more than an hour. The altitude also had to be measured by an altimeter and be supervised by the official certifier.
After Mok's concert was declared a world record, the audience of 10,000 sang the chorus to her classic songs.
Mok is a leading Chinese actress and pop singer. She has won the Golden Melody Award three times and has over 15 million followers on Sina Weibo.
Chinese netizens congratulated Mok, saying that singing for such a long time at such a high altitude must have made for a brilliant concert.
