Renowned conductor and violinist Pinchas Zukerman presented a wonderful night together with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra for audiences at the Poly Theater in Beijing on Tuesday.
The
Cultural and Musical Bridges concert, part of the ongoing Beijing Music Festival, featured Mozart's Violin Concerto No.5, the
Egmont Overture by Beethoven and
Enigma Variations, one of the most well-known pieces from English composer Edward Elgar.
Also known as
Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 36, the work became an extremely popular hit almost immediately after its 1899 London premiere.
This year marks its 120th anniversary.
When asked how he switches between violinist and conductor, Zukerman said that it takes years of hard practice because both jobs are really hard to manage.
