Chinese veteran directors Li Qiankuan and Xiao Guiyun shared some behind-the-scenes stories for the classic 1989 movie
The Birth of New China during a lecture at the National Art Museum of China on Thursday. Part of the museum's master classes project, the event was held as part of the museum's ongoing exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of founding of the People's Republic of China.
A remastered 4K version of the classic film was recently released on Chinese streaming sites. The two directors said they were happy to hear that viewers could review the historic moments around the founding of the country.
