China is firmly opposed to an Indian official’s visit to the southern part of China's Tibet region, and the Chinese side urges the Indian side to stop taking any action that may further complicate the border issue, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday following the scheduled visit by the Indian home minister to the area.

China’s position on the east sector of the China-India boundary, or the southern part of China's Tibet region, is consistent and clear. The Chinese government has never recognized the so-called Arunachal Pradesh, Geng Shuang, spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said at Thursday’s media briefing.

China firmly opposed the Indian politician’s visit to the southern part of China's Tibet region as it violates China’s territorial sovereignty, undermines stability of the border area, sabotages political mutual trust, and violates the relevant bilateral agreement.

According to Indian media reports, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to visit the so-called Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday to attend a 34th Statehood Day function and launch a number of projects related to industry and roads.

The Chinese side also urges the Indian side to take concrete actions to uphold peace and tranquility of the border area, Geng said.
