The government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) announced the launch of EasyPass on Wednesday, a quarantine-exemption scheme designated for Hong Kong people, under which all Hong Kong people arriving from Guangdong and Macao will be exempted from quarantine for 14 days if they arrive by land port with valid negative nucleic acid test results.

The applicant must meet all the requirements, including being a Hong Kong resident, and having not been outside Macao and Guangdong Province within 14 days before the date of return, according to the statement form the SAR government, which says applicants must also hold a negative nucleic acid test certificate, to be issued by a mutual recognition medical institution in Guangdong or Hong Kong and Macao within three days before the date of return.

Currently, there are 39 COVID-19 nucleic acid testing institutions in Guangdong that are recognized by the Hong Kong government.

Successful applicants will obtain the QR health code of the e-health declaration by the Hong Kong health authority for entry into the city.

Any Hong Kong resident aged 18 or above, may use the scheme's appointment booking system to book a specified return date and designated port within a specified period of time. Those under the age of 18 are required to make an appointment with their parent or guardian who is a Hong Kong resident and provide their Hong Kong identity card or other identification document number.

Special channels will be provided at the Shenzhen Bay Port and the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) for those who have obtained the QR health code.

Currently, the number of applicants that are allowed to pass through the ports is limited, the daily limit for Shenzhen Bay Port to Hong Kong being 3,000 people per day and the HZMB 2,000 people.
