China’s Chang’e-5 successfully conducted its first course correction during its homebound flight on the moon-Earth transfer orbit as of Monday 11:13 am, Global Times learned from the China National Space Administration (CNSA) on Monday.

The 25-newton thrust engines onboard the orbiter re-entry module of Chang’e-5 was activated and worked for around 28 seconds to perform the operation smoothly on Monday, a day after the spacecraft broke free from moon gravity and entered the moon-Earth transfer orbit.

CNSA said in the statement it sent to the Global Times that the lunar sample carrying spacecraft is currently in good condition.
