National Heritage site Daming Palace Park, which opened on October 1, 2010 in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, has suffered extensive damage from visitors after only one year of operations, according to people.com.cn on Tuesday.

Dozens of cracks in the wall and on the ground can be seen inside the palace site, along with  serious surface subsidence behind Xiangluan Pavilion, the report said.

The Daming Palace Park was reconstructed based on Daming Palace, the center of politics, economics and culture during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The park has been restored to what it looked like 1,300 years ago based on historical records and archaeological findings.

"Warning signs should be erected near the dangerous places," Li Qiang, a visitor to the park said, adding that "no one has yet come to make repairs."

In addition, the miniaturized landscape has also suffered great damage. Many miniature palace gates have been toppled, exposing untidy conditions in the interiors of the replica structures.

The report questioned the quality of the construction with a total investment of some 3 billion yuan ($470 million).
