An eye-catching piece of performance art in Wuhan, Hubei Province on February 8 saw three men crawling on the ground with chains around their necks, being led by a woman, in a bid to raise awareness of gender equality and women's rights issues.
Kang Yi, a 25-year-old performance artist from Hengyang, Hunan Province, fastened himself and two colleagues to a dog chain and proceeded to crawl on the ground of a busy street for about 100 meters. They were led by a woman surnamed Liu, who also held a sign explaining their cause.
"Women are one of the most vulnerable groups of people in society," Kang said, before proceeding to lick Liu's feet. "We wanted to bring these issues of sexual discrimination and harassment to people's attention in an unforgettable way."
Onlookers held mixed opinions about the piece, with some finding it inspiring and creative, while others found it disgusting and counterproductive.
"I'm all in favor of the feminist movement, but I've never seen anything like this back home," said one observer from the UK.
It's not the first time that Kang has gotten on all fours for his art; his previous work has seen him kneel down before manual laborers to thank them for their hard work.
