Passenger stations in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region will require passengers to show ID cards when buying tickets, and all the luggage will need to go through security checks, the Legal Daily reported.
The security inspectors are required to check all the luggage of passengers, including devices such as walking sticks and artificial limbs. Unidentified liquid and chemical products are not allowed to be brought onto buses.
The real-name ticket system will first be introduced in larger stations and then in smaller stations.
The system is being adopted to improve the security of passenger cars and counter terrorism, said Yang Hu, an official with the local road transportation administrative bureau.
Metal walking sticks were used as weapons by the hijackers in a flight from Hotan to Urumqi on June 29.
