Zibo plant blast kills 1
One person was killed and seven were injured in an explosion at a chemical plant in Zibo, Shandong Province on Saturday afternoon, local authorities said Sunday.
The fire occurred at the Guojin Chemical Co in the city's Huantai county after a hydrogen peroxide manufacturing facility exploded. Two people are still missing.
The injured are in a stable condition at hospital. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Drunk driver sentenced
The Ouhai District People's Court in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, on Sunday sentenced a driver named Liu to six years in prison for drunk driving and killing two students in their 20s in a college in May.
The accident triggered a nationwide outcry over traffic safety due to video footage of the accident scene being widely circulated online.
Liu, driving a rented black Honda sedan, fled from the scene at once, before turning himself in three and a half hours later.
A blood test showed his alcohol level was far above legal limits.
Liu had been driving at near to 110 kilometers per hour before the crash.
