Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker and visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met  Saturday and pledged to boost bilateral cooperation.

Hui, who was making a stopover in Luxembourg in a foreign trip, spoke highly of Juncker's contribution to advancing China's ties with Luxembourg and Europe.

The prime minister, a veteran leader in Europe, is a good friend of China, he said.

Hui said his country is ready to work with Luxembourg to maintain high-level contacts and advance pragmatic cooperation in a bid to ensure sound and fast growth of their ties.

Noting that bilateral economic and trade cooperation has yielded fruitful results, Hui said Beijing encourages more Chinese enterprises to take Luxembourg as a gateway to expand their presence in Europe.

Hui noted that it was unfair for the European Union to launch anti-dumping investigations against Chinese solar panels, hoping that Luxembourg could hold a fair and just position and exert positive influence on that issue.

For his part, Juncker said his country is satisfied with the sound political and economic ties with China and appreciates China's assistance to Europe to fight the debt crisis.

Luxembourg welcomes more Chinese investment and visitors, Juncker said, adding that the two countries could resolve trade frictions through consultations and negotiations.

Speaking of the great achievements China has made during its opening-up, the prime minister said that the two countries have a lot to learn from each other and that there is a huge potential for bilateral cooperation.

Hui is en route to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan after wrapping up his visits to the Republic of Congo and Tanzania. He also attended the funeral of late Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi in Addis Ababa.
