Google on Monday announced its much-anticipated Nexus 4 smartphone, Nexus 10 tablet and an update to its Android mobile operating system.

"We're exited to announce three great new Nexus devices...in small, medium and large. And they all run Android 4.2, a new flavor of Jelly Bean -- which includes the latest version of Google Now and other great new features," said Google in its official blog after hurricane Sandy killed its planned Monday media event in New York City.

The refreshed Nexus devices all run Android 4.2, adding new features like a virtual keyboard allowing users to input text via gliding gestures, and a 360-degree panoramic photo feature called Photo Sphere.

Android 4.2 also brings the latest version of Google Now. The intelligent personal assistant service now can automatically notify users of information like flight schedule, restaurant reservations or hotel confirmations before users even ask.

"People increasingly have more than one device, and they switch between them many times a day. Nexus -- Google's hardware line for Android devices -- gets rid of the hassle," said Andy Rubin, Google's senior vice president, in the blog post.

"Just sign in with your Google Account and everything is there ready to go, whatever device you're using: photos, emails, contacts, bookmarks, even your entertainment on Google Play."

Among the new Nexus devices, Nexus 4, developed with LG, is the latest Google smartphone, featuring a quad-core processor, 4.7- inch display and wireless charging.

Google also slightly refreshed the Nexus 7 tablet, originally unveiled in June, with the new Android 4.2. The 16GB Wi-Fi-only model is priced at 199 US dollars.

In collaboration with Samsung, the Nexus 10 tablet has a high- resolution display similar to the Retina display of Apple's new iPad. The 16GB version of Nexus 10 will start at 399 dollars.
