A manager of a network technology company in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, recently announced that his employees would be given a two-day holiday for "doomsday."

The Sina Weibo user named Darryn published a notice Wednesday saying that the Mayan prophecy of the end of the world is coming, and that he decided to free his workers on December 20 and 21. The notice, complete with a company stamp, has been forwarded thousands of times.

According to the notice, during the holidays, workers may turn off their mobile phones to avoid being disturbed, and it is suggested that this will be the last chance workers have to be with their loved ones.

"During these days, workers may not be focused on work, and so I decided to give them a holiday so they could be with their families," Darryn told the Tianfu Morning Post.
