A 24-year-old Rwandan woman has allegedly been gang raped by five men in the Indian capital, local media reported Friday, quoting police as saying.

The incident occured on Dec. 3 when the victim was returning to her residence in Timarpur area north of the capital. However, the police registered a complaint by the woman three days after the sexual assault following senior officials' intervention, the report said.

With four of the accused arrested, a manhunt has been launched to track down the fifth, The Times of India newspaper reported.

A medical examination of the woman has confirmed rape, it said, adding that the victim is likely to be a foreign student at Delhi University.
