The director of the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau, which is under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), was fired Thursday after his extramarital relationship was exposed by his mistress, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

Xinhua reported that Yi Junqing has been involved in an extramarital relationship.

The Hong Kong-based news portal takungpao.com reported that Chang Yan, a post-doctorate student doing research at the bureau, allegedly wrote a 120,000-character diary on an online forum about her romance with Yi in which she condemned him for leaving her for another mistress..

Chang later posted a letter on her blog claiming the diary is fictional, and she has been suffering from depression for some time due to pressure from her academic research.

Both the diary and Chang's letter were no longer posted online as of Thursday night.

Starting as a philosophy teacher, Yi served as the president of Heilongjiang University in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and head of the publicity department of the CPC Heilongjiang Provincial Committee before he was appointed the director of the bureau.

Yi is known for his research on Marxist philosophy and authored more than 200 research papers.

Yi, who graduated from Peking University in 1982 and has served as the bureau's director since 2010, will be replaced by Jia Gaojian, a professor and director of the education department from the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC.
