The new Chairman of the national advisory body will be elected at the first session of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on March 3.

The decision was made at the concluding day of the four-day meeting of the Standing Committee of the 11th CPPCC National Committee.

The upcoming annual session will also elect vice chairpersons, general secretary and the members of the 12th CPPCC Standing Committee.

The session will deliberate and vote on the work report submitted by the 11th CPPCC National Committee and the report on the work proposal.

Members of the 12th CPPCC National Committee will attend the first session of the 12th National People's Congress, the national legislature, which will open on March 5. to hear and discuss the government report as well as other reports.
