A German tourist has died after falling 13 meters from a cliff at the Serpentine Falls in southwest Western Australia, local media reported on Tuesday.

Ulrich Helmut Ditzel slipped from a cliff edge above a swimming hole on Sunday afternoon as he was attempting to jump into the water, the Australian Associated Press reported.

The 19-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after falling onto rocks in the water.

He was pronounced dead later that evening.

His family in Germany has been notified of his death.
