The new season of The Voice of China has been launched by Zhejiang satellite TV and Canxing Productions with their new media partner Sohu Video, according to an announcement Wednesday in The Beijing News.
While the discussion sparked by the reality talent show and 2012 ratings leader still buzzes around the country, the new season of The Voice is already gearing up.
Season 1 contestants, Wu Mochou, Jin Zhiwen, Ping An, Li Daimo and others debuted in the launch event with their new appearance, and extended their blessings to the contestants for the upcoming season.
It's reported that The Voice 2 is scheduled to air on Zhejiang TV during the summer vacation with 15 episodes.
No big format changes are planned as producers say season 2 will remain like season 1. However, the group of directors will expand their search for "the good voice" by flying from city to city.
And since the reality show's influence has spread overseas, the selection of contestants will be extended to Chinese nationals that live in the US, Australia and countries in Europe.
Judges from The Voice season 1 included renowned musician Liu Huan, pop diva Na Ying, mainland singer Yang Kun and Taiwan singer-songwriter Harlem Yu. The production team said that communication with the four judges was in full swing, and that they hoped to keep the same panel as in the first season.
In the The Voice season 1, the dream mentors were not introduced until the mentor assessment phase. However in the new season, the dream mentors will be involved from the very beginning, along with four judges making targeted training plans for contestants.
In order to increase the competitiveness of the show, judges need to compete with each other to get talented contestants in season 2.
Addressing earlier criticism, the views of professional musicians will be introduced as a new element to make the results more professional and transparent.
