New Chinese President Xi Jinping laid out his vision of the "Chinese Dream" at the closing ceremony of the National People's Congress on Sunday, showing the ambition of the new leadership under Xi's rule and meeting public expectations about the country's future.

The "Chinese Dream" belongs not only to every Chinese citizen, but also to the whole nation. It embodies the individual quest for a better life, as well as common expectations toward a brighter future of the country.

The sufferings of China in modern times prove that the decay of a nation is the source of people's destitution. In the dreams of Chinese people in the past generations, the wish for a powerful nation has been the most touching part.

There have been voices on the Internet claiming that neither the prosperity nor the decay of China has anything to do with them. But these are only angry words that have emerged along with a more open era.

The notion of "Chinese Dream" raised by Xi is not too far away. It sounded like a fairy tale when Chinese elites talked about it long ago. But today's China has accumulated a solid material foundation and the spirit of humanity has been expanded in every walk of life. The dignity of the national level has been extended to individuals.

Today's China has boosted diverse choices for people, while those choosing alternatives have been tolerated. The "Chinese Dream" is no longer a mandatory political idea. The social diversity it accommodates is at a record high.

China has been developing so fast in the past few decades that it has brought a number of problems. It's hard for us to fully appreciate the changes in the country compared to its historical position. The raising of the "Chinese Dream" is a process of comprehending what we want and where we are headed.

The "Chinese Dream" will promote the building of a political and ideological consensus amid the public and unite the country's seemingly fragmented society.

Chinese have a set of common ideals which should be strengthened rather than being forgotten.

Most Chinese people believe they deserve a better future. Coordinating with the positive spirit that has prevailed for years, the "Chinese Dream" will have a solid social foundation and prove promising.

In the future, the pursuit of individual ideals should be connected with the needs of the nation.

Everybody should be able to benefit from the country's reform and opening-up process, and be more confident that they have a fair chance of enjoying those benefits. Bringing a sense of fairness and justice will let the public have a better understanding of the "Chinese Dream."

The more concrete individual demands the "Chinese Dream" involves, the more it can achieve in political greatness.

Today's China has the capability to change a national dream into people's individual dreams. After all, the "Chinese Dream" is the common interests of all.
