Chinese President Xi Jinping has said the Boao Forum for Asia has evolved into an important economic forum with global significance. The remark came in a meeting with the fourth Board of Directors of the Forum in Boao, a coastal town in South China’s Hainan Province.

Xi Jinping said the global economy has entered a period of profound readjustment and its recovery remains elusive. He said Asian countries enjoy relatively sound economic development, but they are not immune to adverse economic influence from outside.

The forum’s theme is "Asia Seeking Development for All: Restructuring, Responsibility and Cooperation", which the President said has pointed out the direction for Asia’s future development and is conducive to reaching common ground. Xi Jinping also encouraged the board members to offer their insights and suggestions during the gathering.

He said he hopes the forum can continue to focus on major development issues facing Asia and emerging economies to promote regional coordination and common development. Xi Jinping pledged that China’s development will bring even greater benefits to the rest of the world.
