With scandals related to dairy products in recent years, getting the best baby formula for children has never been more important for Chinese parents. Now top-notch Dutch infant milk powder Nutrilon is available in China exclusively on Tmall.com to offer parents an infant formula of exceptional quality.
Place of origin is always an important factor for Chinese parents in choosing infant formula. Bruno Chevot, general manager of Danone Baby Nutrition Hong Kong, ensures Chinese consumers that Nutrilon is manufactured and packaged in the Netherlands.
"Nutrilon is directly transported from the factories in the Netherlands, one of the best locations for milk production in the world, to consumers' homes in China with minimum intervention, so the milk powder remains fresh," said Chevot at the launch party for Nutrilon in Shanghai on March 29.
Nutrilon products follow strict food safety standards in Europe and the entry-exit inspections in China, so Chinese parents need not worry about the safety of Nutrilon, he said.
Nutrilon is the latest quality milk powder introduced by Danone to China after Karicare, another well-known baby formula from New Zealand. Like other brands under Danone Baby Nutrition, Nutrilon provides high quality baby milk powder based on years of scientific research by the experts at Danone, a leading global health food company.
There are three kinds of Nutrilon products: for newborns to 6 months, 6 to 12 months and 1-year-old or above. Chevot noted that Nutrilon's patented formula helps babies improve their digestive tracts and immune systems.
"The products are formulated based on the latest scientific data and matched with the different nutritional needs of infants during their different stages of development," he said.
Lu Minfang, the greater China regional vice president of Danone Baby Nutrition, stressed that Nutrilon products sold in China are high quality and produced using the same materials and under the same environment as those made in the Netherlands.
"When it comes to choosing the best products for their babies, Chinese parents have their own needs. We offer more choices to Chinese parents according to the preferred place of production and the need of the babies in different stages," said Lu. "Our duty as a provider of infant nutrition products is to let consumers understand the products and provide good customer service."
Many Chinese consumers like to compare and buy baby products online. Since Tmall.com started taking pre-orders for Nutrilon on March 11, it has become the favorite brand of Chinese consumers. More than 60,000 pre-orders were made in the first week alone. A brand new site dedicated to Danone baby formula products will be launched on Tmall.com in April to provide an interactive platform between consumers and Danone, said Zhang Yong, CEO of Tmall.com.
"More than 3 million expectant mothers in China browse Tmall.com every month to search for baby products, and almost all young parents buy from the Internet," Zhang said. "Buying online allows consumers to understand the products more thoroughly and buy quality products in the shortest time."
Some Chinese mainland parents prefer buying formula directly from overseas, but it has become more difficult to do so. Hong Kong introduced new measures on March 1 to restrict each person to two cans of baby formula. Supermarkets in Europe have put similar limits on shoppers last month.
"This is why we have a strategic partnership with Tmall.com to make sure Chinese mainland mothers can have an easier access to safe milk products," said Chevot.
Chinese parents who have bought Nutrilon for their babies online all swear by its good quality and good customer service on Weibo.
"I bought Nutrilon because the products are all imported. The products are wrapped in thick foam so they are very well protected. I believe in the brand and I will keep buying it," wrote Weibo user dongnana19850709 from Hefei, Anhui Province.
