Chinese think tanks hope that the forthcoming International Symposium on Chinese Think Tanks to be held in June will allow them to conduct more significant exchanges with their foreign counterparts, according to Yu Jin, a top domestic think tank researcher.
A group of over 20 experts and scholars from Chinese academies, universities and think tanks attended a preparatory session for the international seminar on Saturday.
Professor Zhu Xufeng from Qinghua University said the event will provide an opportunity for domestic experts and scholars to exchange views with their foreign counterparts.
According to Jin, who chaired the meeting, China's think tanks have been developing in parallel with the reform and opening-up drive of the 1970s, but is lagging behind internationally.
"The international think tank circle can be very helpful in promoting the fast development of Chinese think tanks," he said.
China is expected to create a national standard for think tanks at the conference, Yu said.
