There was a home treble in Jerez as Dani Pedrosa achieved a comfortable victory in Moto GP held in the south-western city of Jerez this Sunday.
Pedrosa took the lead with 22 laps remaining and never looked back, while Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez fought a tight battle for second and third places.
Marquez finally took second place after overtaking Lorenzo on the final bend and the points take the youngster into first place in the overall riders' championship.
Marquez has been the sensation in Moto GP so far this season, but Lorenzo was clearly upset at the way he had overtaken, with a maneuver many considered to be illegal and refused to shake his rival's hand afterwards, although Marquez took weight off the incident, saying it was all part of the race.
Earlier in the day Tito Rabat took the Moto 2 race ahead of Redding and Pau Espargaro and the Spaniard also took the lead in the championship for the category, while in Moto 3, Mavarick Vinales was the winner in a race in which one moment of drama came when Alan Techer had to be taken to hospital after a fall left him unconscious.
