New York Yankees superstar shortstop Derek Jeter has been cleared to resume full baseball activities and run on his surgically repaired left ankle, the team said Thursday.
Jeter's doctor Robert Anderson, who performed the initial surgery after Jeter broke his left ankle in last year's American League Championship Series, determined that the injury is healing.
Jeter, a 13-time All-Star, played in 159 games last year, his most since 2005.
He led the American League with 216 hits and finished seventh in the American League Most Valuable Player voting.
