The Chinese internet has been abuzz over a new kind of women’s silk tights that are covered in fake leg hair that are being marketed as a way to ‘repel perverts’.

Though not yet widely available for sale, photos and comments about the tights flooded social networking sites such as Sina Weibo, and online retailers are already banking on the viral attention.

Around 100 online sellers on e-commerce site taobao.com are taking pre-orders for the stockings, all priced between 1 yuan ($0.16) and 8,888,888 yuan ($1,450,666.52).

Despite the online welcome, most female Sina Weibo users commented they wouldn’t dare walk out of the house wearing these tights.
