Chinese athlete Li Lingwei broke meet record in women's javelin throw with a distance of 60. 65 meters, in the 20th Asian Athletics Championships here on Saturday evening.

The former Asian record is 58.35 meters set by Phamang from Thailand in 2007.

Sri Lanka's Nadeeka Lakmali came second, followed by Risa Miyashita of Japan.

The 20th Asian Athletics Championship is held in Pune of India from July 3 to 7. About 580 athletes from 43 nations and regions are to compete for 42 gold medals.
