Chinese police escorted three Chinese criminal suspects, including one murder suspect, back to China from Madagascar on Tuesday.
Local security and judicial authorities in Madagascar have been working closely with a team from China's
Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in handling the cases, the MPS said in a statement.
One suspect surnamed Liu is suspected of organizing ex-convicts in Madagascar to commit over 30 legal violations, including the murders of three Chinese people, since he entered the country in 2003.
The statement said the suspected murders were brutal and brought severely negative impacts to the local society and the image of Chinese people.
Local police arrested Liu in April on suspicions that he was behind the fatal shooting of a Chinese woman.
In a separate case, two other suspects surnamed Xia and Huang were arrested by Madagascar police in June.
The two men were apprehended on suspicions of carrying out illegal business operations in China. These operations involved a 2008 scheme in which the suspects claimed to be from a qualified labor exporting intermediary company and collected more than 2 million yuan ($324,000) in fees from over 30 people.
The suspects fled to Madagascar in 2009 after failing to send any workers abroad or to return the money they had obtained.
A Chinese police team sent to Madagascar from the MPS earlier this month has cooperated with local authorities in collecting evidence and successfully escorted the suspects back to China, the statement said.
The statement said the handling of these cases has shown the resolution of the Chinese government and police in combatting transnational crimes and protecting the safety of Chinese citizens overseas.
