The baby girl who was violently thrown onto ground by a middle-aged man after a parking dispute late on Wednesday has been confirmed dead, while Beijing police have arrested the suspect surnamed Han.
Beijing police said late Thursday they had arrested a man who allegedly seriously hurt a baby girl in a violent crime that shocked China's Internet community.
The man surnamed Han was put in criminal detention on suspicion of intentional homicide on Thursday afternoon, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau said in a statement.
Han was suspected of lifting the baby from her carriage and hurling her onto the ground in Daxing District Tuesday, after he and another man conflicted with the mother and beat her up, who they said had blocked the way of their car.
The infant was still receiving emergency treatment at hospital.
Police said Han was once sentenced for theft, while another man who also had a criminal record had surrendered to police.
