A 10-member squad of junior judo athletes, including five men and five women, will compete for Cuba in the 2013 World Cadet Judo Championships in Miami, Florida, from August 8 to 11, according to Radio Rebelde Friday.
The women's team features Yurisleidy Hernandez in the 52-kg class, Delkis Hernandez (57kg), Aliuska Merino (63kg), Nairelis Fuentes (70kg) and Gusmari Garcia (70kg plus), the report said, citing the Cuban judo federation.
The men's team features John Harol Torres (50kg), Yandri Torres (55kg), Leislandi Puentes (60kg), Juan Guillot (66kg) and Ivan Silva (81kg).
The squad is set to leave on August 5 for Miami, marking the first time Cuba joins in the world cadet competition for junior judo athletes between the ages of 14 and 17.
