A number of fake yet extremely difficult exam questions imitating those from Chinese proficiency test for foreigners (or HSK) are making the rounds online to the delight of native speakers.

The questions, composed of true-false, multiple-choice, reading and composition, have triggered heated discussions among Chinese Net users that have been subjected to years of required English exams.

The playful questions, brimming with wordplay and double entendres, even manage to stump native speakers, people.com.cn reported on August 5.

"Now it's the foreigners turn to learn Chinese and take exams. This is revenge for years of torture from English learning," wrote one netizen.

The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is a standardized national test for Chinese language proficiency organized by the National Office of Chinese Language Council International, also known as Hanban. The test is offered from levels on to six; six the most difficult.

The fake questions circulating online are satirically taken from the "HSK-8".

"I passed the HSK-4 on my first try, but I think the higher levels are very difficult for us foreign students, especially the listening and composition parts. My listening is not so good and every Chinese word seems pronounced with a different tone, which always confuses me," said Jiang Jun, a Japanese student studying Chinese.
