US President Barack Obama is scheduled to attend the 4th Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) held in Malaysia in October, officials said Wednesday.
Obama is also expected to deliver a keynote address during the meeting alongside with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, according to Mohd Irwan Serigar Bin Abdullah, secretary general of treasury at Malaysia's Finance Ministry, who is also the head of the organizing committee.
He told a media briefing that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and leaders and officials from other countries had showed their interest in attending the summit.
Organizers said they expected more than 3,000 people from over 50 countries to attend the summit from October 11 to 12, with the theme "Empowering and Connecting Entrepreneurs". A number of side events will also be held.
Initiated by Obama, the first GES was held in Washington D.C. in 2010, and subsequently in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
The US president is scheduled to visit Southeast Asia in October to attend the APEC summit in Indonesia and East Asia Summit in Brunei.
