A man was required to pay a cinema in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province 200 yuan ($32) as compensation after his "very wide face" broke a pair of 3D glasses, Yangtze Evening News reported Wednesday.
But the man surnamed Wang argued that it was not his fault.
"My face is quite wide and they had to fit over my own eyeglasses," he said.
He added that the 3D glasses were also of poor quality and had been worn down from several previous uses, saying that he should not be forced to pay for them, especially since he and his girlfriend didn't even get to finish the movie.
But cinema staff still said that Wang was responsible for breaking the glasses and needed to pay for them.
After the argument escalated, police were called to the scene to control the situation.
Wang finally agreed to pay 200 yuan after the cinema refunded his and his girlfriend's tickets that had altogether cost 90 yuan.
