As G20 leaders are starting to arrive in St. Petersburg, so are leaders of the business circles from around the world to continue their dialogue which has been on for four years now.
As one of G20's outreach groups, business leaders form a Business 20 (B20) opinion faction and there are also Civil Society 20, Labor 20, Think Tank 20 and Youth 20 as the other outreach factions.
B20 carries certain weight in the B20-G20 dialogue in that the group gathers global business leaders who have been exerting influence upon shaping the 2013 G20 Summit agenda.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose country is hosting this year's G20 Summit in St. Petersburg, has welcomed the recommendations from the B20, emphasizing the importance of working together with all stakeholders to find effective solutions to the challenges facing the G20.
In its press releases distributed on the eve of the 2013 G20 Summit, B20 states that its recommendations have reflected the interests of the business community from the G20 countries and its recommendations focus on financing infrastructure investment, employment and jobs creation, improving financial regulation, enhancing multilateral trade, transparency and anti-corruption, and establishing an enabling environment for innovations.
Between 2009 and last year, B20 formulated 262 recommendations, of which 35 percent have been reflected in the G20 leaders' joint statements either as commitments or as mandates.
"We are committed to collaborating with the G20 to implement the proposed recommendations," said Alexander Shokhin who chairs the B20 for 2013.
"We stand ready to support the G20 actions aimed at steering the 'three-speed recovery' toward more even and sustainable growth," he added.
