A homosexual man stabbed his lover in the throat on the eve of their breakup, the Beijing News reported. The man, surnamed Xu, tried to kill his lover in his sleep, but immediately regretted it. Xu took him to the hospital, then called 110 and surrendered himself to police.

After a two-year relationship, the lover, surnamed Hou, had suddenly expressed a desire to break up, saying they could only reconcile after Xu became wealthy. After an unsuccessful kidney-­selling scheme, Xu finally agreed to break up on July 9 but asked for one final night together; his plan was to kill Hou and then commit suicide. The Fengtai district procuratorate approved the arrest of Xu on murder charges.
