A couple is recovering in a Hangzhou hospital after jumping into a shallow river while having an "emotional spat" late on October 12.
Hangzhou river patrolmen waded into the Qiantang River to rescue the man and woman, who were unable to stand after jumping into the knee-deep waters from a five-meter bank.
According to local news, the 26-year-old woman surnamed Bai of Luoyang, Henan Province had jumped in first and injured her lower back and foot.
The man, who claimed to police he was the woman's employer, took the plunge during an attempted rescue and also suffered lower back injuries.
