Pakistan's Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Monday left Islamabad for Beijing on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Chinese authorities, the military said.
During his visit, the army chief will call on China's political and military leaders, the army's Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.
"The interaction will encompass Pak-China relations with particular emphasis on defense and security cooperation," the statement said.
Meanwhile an 11-member Chinese delegation arrived in Islamabad on a three-day visit on Monday, officials said.
Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Defense Mushahid Hussain Syed welcomed the delegation at Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
Wang Zhengwei, vice chairman of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), is leading the delegation.
The delegation will meet Chairman of Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, leader of the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq and Chairman of the Senate Defense Committee Senator Mushahid Hussain. They will also have interaction with members of the Senate Standing Committee on Defense and Defense Production.
The delegation will also attend the reception hosted by Raja Zafarul Haq, leader of the House in the Senate.
