Members of the rogue group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) detonated a homemade bomb along the highway as a convoy of journalists was passing by in southern Philippines on Tuesday afternoon, which caused no injures, a military official said.

Col. Dickson Hermoso, spokesman for the Philippine Army's 6th Infantry Division, said journalists from local TV stations ABS-CBN, GMA, TV-5 were following a military vehicle when the blast occurred in Tuka village, Mamasapano town in Maguindanao province at around 2 p.m.

"No one was hurt. They already passed the area where the explosive was planted when it exploded," Hermoso said.

The military official said members of the media, who were about 100 meters from the scene of the blast, were on their way to the town of Rajah Buayan to check the condition of residents affected by the conflict.

The explosion occurred just a few days after two members of a Manila-based television crew were wounded in an attack staged by the BIFF.

On Feb. 1, at least 12 people, including two Manila-based journalists, were injured after two bombs ripped through a convoy of soldiers and journalists in Datu Saudi Ampatuan town in Maguindanao province.

The BIFF, which broke away from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), has been opposing the ongoing peace talks between the government and the MILF.

The military and Moro rebels clashed shortly after the government and the MILF completed the four annexes of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro on Jan. 25.
