A man in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province dissatisfied with traffic noise around his home attempted to remedy the situation by placing steel nails on the road, causing punctured tires in several passing cars and nearly leading to accidents.
The man, surnamed Wu, was recently sentenced to three years in prison for endangering public security by the Nanshan District People's Court in Shenzhen.
Living near a viaduct that vehicles pass by every day, Wu says the traffic noise kept him from sleeping.
Wu tried telling drivers to slow down, but that didn't improve the situation.
Starting on September 8, 2012,Wu began making nails and putting them in the middle or sides of road.
This has led to blow outs for heavy trucks, buses and cars on several occasions.
A victim surnamed Cao drove a car down this road at 2:00 pm on January 7, 2013 when both tires on the left side of his car were punctured by nails leading to Cao losing control of his car.
This forced a heavy truck, driven by a man surnamed Xiao, to swerve to avoid Cao's car and also suffer punctured tires from the nails.
