The official draw ceremony for the AFC Futsal Championship Vietnam 2014 finals was held in Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City on Saturday.

Accordingly, host Vietnam was positioned as the top seed in POT A1, while three other top seeds including Japan, Thailand and Iran will lead for POT D1, C1 and B1 respectively.

Results of the draw placed Iraq, Kuwait and Tajikistan in POT A1 along with Vietnam; Australia, China and Indonesia in POT B1 along with Iran; Lebanon, China's Taiwan and Malaysia in POT C1 along with Thailand; and Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and South Korea in POT D1 along with Japan.

Vietnam had a lot of experience in organizing big regional sports events, so I hope the country will successfully host the AFC Futsal Championship 2014, said Dato Alex Soosay, AFC Secretary General.

Tran Anh Tu, member of the AFC Futsal Committee, said although other teams in the same division with Vietnam are all "heavily weighed", Vietnamese players still expect to advance into the top- 8 list of the tournament.

The AFC Futsal Championship Vietnam 2014 from April 30 to May 10 in HCM City is the second such tournament since 2010.

Hosting the tournament this time, Vietnam is looking forward to advancing to the top four so as to win a ticket to the World Cup Futsal 2016 finals.
