Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party on Sunday denounced the terrorist attack at a train station in China's Yunnan province that killed at least 29 people.

Abbas Zakki, a member of the Fatah Central Committee and the party's general commissioner to the Arab World and China, said in a letter that "the Fatah condemns this atrocious crime," the official news agency Wafa reported.

"Fatah Party chaired by President Abbas send their deep condolences to the Chinese people and their leadership," said Zakki, stressing his party's confidence that China will recover from this ordeal and is able "to confront anyone who tries to target the stability of our friend China."

Twenty-nine civilians were confirmed dead and more than 140 others wounded after a group of knife-wielding militants attacked the railway station in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, on Saturday. The authorities said that it was an organized, premeditated violent terrorist attack.
