The North Korea Embassy in Beijing Wednesday accused the US of manipulating a UN report that found crimes against humanity in North Korea.

In February, a UN investigation commission on human rights in North Korea published a 400-page report documenting widespread torture and abuse, and called for urgent action including the referral of its findings to the ICC for possible prosecution.

"The report published by the so called 'UN Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights in North Korea' is under manipulation of the US," an official from the North Korean Embassy told the Global Times.

The official said the materials in the report were made up by those who had committed to crimes and escaped abroad. The US wants to use the human rights issue to intensify tensions on the Korean Peninsula and subvert the North Korea's regime, the official said.
